Exploring Futures in a Disrupted World

PDU: Leadership 2

8:00 – 9:00 AM CST

11:00 – 11:45 AM CST

The question is no longer, “How can we be more effective and efficient?” The question now is, “How can we remain relevant in a world that has changed and will change even more?”

The truth is the current and on-going environmental, social, political, and economical situation has closed some futures but has opened others. We see divergent and convergent futures.

Dr. LugoSantiago, Chief Futurist at the Institute of Leadership & Strategic Foresight, will be “workshopping” the future through the exploration of Converging & Divergent Futures.

The discussion and tools will illuminate your future by helping you see what’s emerging, what’s driving change, how you can do risk assessments, and co-create alliances to seize opportunity in a future marked with uncertainty.

Your Risk Plan for Jurassic World - Doing Qualitative Analysis on a Dinosaur Theme Park

PDU: Strategic 1

From the start of the Corona pandemic, risk mitigation has been used extensively to prevent the spread of the virus.  Qualitative Analysis (QA) is a part of risk mitigation.  The presenter will give a brief intro to the QA process and review a portion of the Risk Management section of the PMBOK.  The major portion of the presentation will provide some fun learning and as you get to imagine being the new Risk Manager for Jurassic World, an operational dinosaur theme park.  You are the park’s Risk Management Professional (RMP) and Safety Manager.  As you watch a few clips from the Jurassic World movie, you will practice qualitative analysis and risk mitigation, along with giving your risk assessment for a new project in the park that is being transferred to you.

Navigating the Seas of Misinformation for PMOs and PMs to Survive and Thrive – Avoiding the Sirens Calling You to Davy Jones’ Locker

PDU: Strategic 1

9:00 – 9:55 AM CST

There is no shortage of advice for managing a successful PMO or “how-to’s” on becoming an effective PM.  However, what is constantly heard from PMO Directors and PMs is a need to cut through the nonsense to identify what will work best in their day-to-day jobs.  The goal of this seminar is to help eliminate the ocean of theoretical and academic swells with proven street-smart and results-oriented tactics that can be used immediately.  Cindy Margules has completed extensive studies of the top roadblocks and utilized those to address changes you can apply with regard to culture, strategies, teamwork, individual adjustments, communication, leadership, roles and responsibilities, risk management and metrics.  The real world examples and implementations will inform, inspire, and empower you.   Additionally, this seminar will allow enough time to provide individual feedback and help in whatever storms you are currently facing.

From Chaos to Confidence: Reclaiming Your Power in Turbulent Times

PDU: Leadership 1

10:05 – 11:00 AM CST

“The battlefield is a scene of constant chaos. The winner will be the one who controls the chaos, both his own and his enemies.” - Napoleon Bonaparte

If you want to succeed in today’s economy, you must know how to deal with the ever-changing, chaotic times.  You must be able to accurately perceive the world out there, and truly understand the world within you.

In times of change, it’s easy for the stress to cause your mind to take shortcuts.  You might see everything in black or white, good or bad, and in the absence of data you assume the worst.  But, if you take the time to measure and examine your thinking habits, and assess if your thoughts are truly adding value, you might find that your mind is working against you.  It doesn’t have to be that way.
